Sunday 20th July was the Ratae Road Club's Founders Day event, part of the club's 75th Anniversary celebrations. For this event four different rides were available of varying lengths, including off-road, slower, steady and fast rides, all followed with a social food and drink celebration at the club's favourite pub, The Cock Inn at Peatling Magna.
At the end of the rides a fabulous variety of delicious food was served up once again by the highly recommended Russell Brooks of Lemon Grove Catering Co. along with some great beers from The Cock's bar.
From riders accounts the cycling activities were thoroughly enjoyed with the fast group arriving at pace (like the end of a TDF stage!), followed by the off-road and slower paced rides, with the largest group of riders, the steady group, not long after. Despite the forecast weather of heavy rain and thunderstorms all rides got through with just a sprinkling of rain and the weather
certainly didn't quench the high spirits of one of the social highlights of this our anniversary year.
